The Christ Church Grammar School Old Boys’ Association (OBA) began planning their Centenary activities some years ago and it quickly became evident to us that we would need someone with exemplary event management skills to assist us. We have planned a number of events to celebrate the Centenary culminating in a gala dinner for 500 members on the Claremont campus of the school.

Planning so far in advance has provided the luxury of very detailed analysis of all aspects of the events, particularly the gala dinner. Caroline has managed: detailed run sheets; food and beverage; caterer selection; audio visual; theming; flooring and drapery; lighting; furniture and equipment; ticketing and registration systems; entertainment; collateral; event promotion (including social media); staffing; volunteer management; sponsorship negotiation; overall logistical planning and most importantly budgeting.

Attention to detail is crucial to a memorable and successful sophisticated event, which is what we are determined to have, and Caroline has been indispensable in every aspect of this. Her knowledge of the industry and suppliers has ensured that we are not only going to get the best possible high quality outcomes, but also at a very fair cost.

Her list of achievements is testament to her broad range of skills and abilities.

TELETHON KIDS INSTITUTE

I’m delighted to provide this testimonial to the quality of the work provided by Caroline James and her team at Caroline James Events.

Caroline has been working with Telethon Kids Institute for a number of years on our major launches. She helped us to transform our annual “Discover Day” for families from a small community engagement activity of around 300 people, to an outdoor carnival that attracted more than 3000.

She also managed our official opening event at Perth Children’s Hospital and the launch of our interactive Discovery Centre – both of which attracted very high-level stakeholders from politics, philanthropy and the academic and health sectors.

Caroline strikes a rare balance between creativity and attention to detail. Her risk plans are exemplary, as is her liaison with stakeholder groups. That gives her a firm foundation to then push each event to its limits in terms of creativity. She has delivered to us many memorable moments in events that people continue to talk about.

What has set her apart, from our perspective, is her ability to deliver these special events to a very specific brief on very tight budgets. Most event organisers can deliver on a template and big budget, but few can work at the bespoke level we require, or for the minimal budgets that we set.

Finally, Caroline and her team are simply delightful to work with. They are friendly, polished and professional regardless of the surprises that happen at any event. For example, we had a range of technical issues during bump in for our opening (all outside of our control) and Caroline calmly kept her team on track while strategizing a Plan B. In the end, it was seamless.

We look forward to working with Caroline James Events again.
